Joan Ann Counts

Joan Ann Counts, 86, of Clarksburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born on March 15, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late John Francis Daugherty and Ann Delores and her husband John Hunt.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Wilson M. Counts, who passed away in March of 1993.

She is survived by four children, Mark Grady Counts of Clarksburg, Scott M. Counts of Clarksburg, William “Billy” Counts of PA, and Dorothy White of Trenton, NJ; grandchildren, who she raised, Chuck Counts of Clarksburg, Connie Olivito and husband James of Clarksburg and Candy Sigley and husband Dave of Reynoldsville and several other grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; three siblings, Alice Truman of Landsdown, PA, Sheila Silfer of Perkisie, PA and David Hunt of Arora, Colorado; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy Ann Counts and siblings, Dottie Bridges, Louis Hunt and John Hunt.

Joan was a graduate of William Tennent High School, class of 1965 as well as receiving her associate’s degree from the WV Business College. She was an Electricians Helper, and organized hats, gloves and socks drives for children.  She was a member of the Machinists Union number 25, the VFW post 573 and 9151.  She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Reynoldsville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.  Joan was Catholic by faith and was a member of All Saints Catholic Church as well as being active in the Democrat Party.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.

Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home, Salem on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 2-6 pm.  Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Tim Sandy, presiding.  Interment will be in Salem IOOF Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent to www.DavisFuneralHomeSalemWV.com.  Davis Funeral Home is honored to assist the Counts family.
