Joan Stewart, 84 of N. 24th St. Clarksburg departed this life on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at her residence. She was born on Turtletree Fork, Harrison County on March 24, 1931 a daughter of the late Lewis Rexall "Jack" and Sylvia Kathryn "Nan" Childers HIckman.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathryn "Kathy" Ash Palmer and husband Tim, Salem, Reva Jean Ash Marks Nine and husband Luther, Parsons, three sons, Edward "Ed" Ash, Gallipolis, OH, John Russell Stewart, Clarksburg, Kurt Stewart and wife Cindy, Enterprise, grandchildren, Tonja Palmer Pringle and husband Andy, David Palmer, Karen Marks Pechart Johnson, Heather Stewart, T.J. Stewart, one step granddaughter, Kimberly Nine, one step grandson, Michael Nine. One brother, Robert "Bobby" Hickman and her companion for many years John Evans preceded her in death.
Mrs. Stewart was a former seamstress for Maiden Form, Clarksburg. She had worked for Town & Country Drug Store, Stonewood and Village Pharmacy, Lost Creek for many years. Joan was a member of United Methodist Temple Church.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main Street Salem on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 3PM with Pastor Dustin McCune presiding. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday, November 2, 2015 after 1PM until time of service. Harbert Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Stewart family.
