John Wayne Barr

John Wayne Barr, 67 of Salem passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at United Hospital Center. He was born April 26 1953 in West Union, son of the late Albert William and Bertha Bell Claybourne Barr. John worked as a Journeyman over the years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, raising chickens, and occasional beer, and working on vehicles. He was a previous member of the WV Game Bird Association.  John is survived by his wife Velena Ann Lipscomb Barr whom he married May 19, 1979; two sons, Kevin Wayne Barr and companion Toni Rose Moneypenny, Salem, Charles Freeman Barr and Jackie, West Union; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth and John Starkey, Candice, Colton, Chloe, and Aurora Barr, and Gavin Elwell; eight siblings, Clyde Barr and Lucille, West Union, George Barr and Pearl, Beach Bottom, Martha Jane Hnery Pocatello, ID, Lucille Quick, Ravenna, OH, William “Jake” Barr, Ravenna, OH, Pat Cork and Elworth, Sedalia, Steve Barr, Phoniex, AZ, Sue Ross and George, New Milton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, LeAnn Denise Barr; one brother Charles Barr and one in infancy.  Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W Main Street, Salem, WV, on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 2:00-7:00PM with proper distancing and face mask required.
