John Russell Stewart

John Russell Stewart, 65, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on May 18, 2026 at United Hospital Center. He was born on January 22, 1961 in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Buckhannon, WV, son of the late John Harvey Stewart and the late Joan Stewart.

He is survived by his siblings: Edward Ash, Thomas, WV, Kathryn Palmer, Salem, Reva Nine (Luther), Parsons, and Kurt Stewart (Cindy), Enterprise, as well as nieces and nephews: Tonja Pringle (Andy), Karen Ayersman (Lawrence), Heather Tichnell (Sean), and T.J. Stewart (Kelsie). He was also survived by several great nieces and nephews and one great, great niece. Besides his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Timothy Palmer and nephew, David Palmer.

John had worked at Walmart, Salem-Teikyo University in the Maintenance Department, the Pete Dye Golf Course Maintenance, and what is now Merrick Engineering, as well as many other places. He had extensive training and knowledge in computers.

He was a passionate outdoorsman with a zest for life. He loved his family and friends whole-heartedly, which included his beloved dog, Josephine. He spoke from his heart and truly enjoyed the art of communication, both conversation and computer. He stood up for what he believed in and lived his life on his terms. He was truly loved and adored by his niece Karen, who always kept close in touch with him, as well as his sisters, Kathryn and Reva. He left this world not by choice, but by default of creation, leaving behind a legacy of love and great memories shared with others around the campfire of life.

Upon his request, he will be cremated with Davis Funeral Home in Salem handling the arrangements. A special family only memorial service will be held at a later time.
