Joy Mae Obituary

Joy Mae Law, 81, of Upper Long Run, Salem passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in the United Hospital Center.


She was born April 26, 1928 a daughter of the late Arthur and Mava Davis Pratt. Her husband of 63 years, Charles E. Dobie Law survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Carole June and Daril E. Lattea, Shirley Jean and Richard Lattea, three sons, Charles L. Chuck Law, John Arthur Law and wife Rita M., Nelson L. Law and wife Vicki L., all of Salem, five grandsons, Rondel S. Lattea and wife Fabiana, Indianapolis,IN Joey W. Lattea and wife Kelly, Buckhannon, Jason E. Lattea and companion Mandy Nicholas, Nelson D. Law, Jeff Davis and wife Jessica, one granddaughter, Melaine Howell and husband Bo, all of Salem, seven great grandchildren, Kaden W. Lattea, James and Payton Howell, Zackery Davis, Destiny and Danny Nicholas and Andyara Morette and several nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Arthur A. Pratt, Von E. Pratt, Boyd O. Pratt and Dale D. Pratt and two sisters, Gladys Pratt Klein,Betty Pratt Mayle and one grandson, Daril Edward Lattea preceded her in death. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Law was a member of the Hurst Chapel United Methodist Church for 63 years where she had been a Sunday School teacher for 40 years and had taught Vacation Bible School for 34 years and served as Trustee and Lay Leader. Joy was a charter member of the Blue Flame Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held in the Hurst Chapel United Methodist Church on Long Run on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 2:00PM with Reverend Kevin Bender officiating Interment will follow in the K of P Memorial Park, Salem. Family and friends will be received in the Salem United Methodist Church, East Main St., Salem on Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 6-8PM and on Friday, July 31, 2009 from 11AM- 8PM. Mrs. Law will lie in state one hour prior to her service.
