Julie Rebecca Goldsmith, 69, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026, at her residence, with her devoted husband by her side.
Born September 25, 1956, in Clarksburg, she was the beloved daughter of the late Sam O. Cox and Mabel H. Hall Cox.
Julie was a proud graduate of South Harrison High School and continued her education at Fairmont State College. She dedicated many years of her life to working as a medical transcriptionist at United Hospital Center, where she was known for her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and quiet dedication. Julie believed in doing a job well and took pride in being dependable and hardworking.
While she worked diligently, her heart truly belonged outdoors. Julie found her greatest joy beneath open skies and surrounded by nature’s beauty. She loved riding horses, exploring trails on her 4-wheeler, boating on warm summer days, camping under the stars, and embracing the simple peace that only the outdoors could provide. Whether it was the sound of water against a boat or the steady rhythm of a horse’s stride, she felt most alive in those moments. Her adventurous spirit and love for the land reflected her strength, independence, and appreciation for life’s simple blessings.
Above all, Julie treasured her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Timothy “Tim” Goldsmith, whom she married on January 28, 2005. Their marriage was one of companionship, loyalty, and deep devotion. She is also survived by her brother, James Robert Cox of Lawrenceville, GA, along with a host of cherished friends whose lives were brightened by her steady presence and warm heart.
Julie will be remembered as a strong, hardworking woman who loved deeply, lived simply, and found joy in the beauty of the world around her. Her spirit will live on in every quiet sunrise, every wooded trail, and every peaceful moment spent outdoors.
Honoring her wishes, Julie will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at www.DavisFuneralHomeSalemWV.com. Davis Funeral Home, Salem, is honored to assist the Goldsmith family.
