Laura Mae Friend Powell

Laura M. Powell, 91 of Salem, WV departed this life on Monday, February 9, 2015 in the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. She was born on August 26, 1923 in West Union, Doddridge County a daughter of the late Calvin R. and Rada Virginia Ratliff Friend. On November 2, 1939 she married Robert T. Powell who preceded her in death on June 30, 1995.

Surviving is one sister, Wavelene Farmer, Oklahoma, a daughter-in-law, Ella Louise Powell, Denham Springs, LA, four grandchildren, Beverly DeLaney and husband Mark, Baton Rouge, LA, Peggy Ritter and companion Steve Lowe, Salem, Brenda Powell, Denham Springs, LA, Venita Cooley and husband Garrett, Bonaire, GA, 10 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild, 4 step great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sons, Gary N. Powell, Larry Powell, Ronald and Donald Powell, two brothers, Louie E. Friend and Everett Dale Friend.

Mrs. Powell owned and operated a dairy farm in Hartville, OH and was the former Owner & Operator of Powell's Car Wash and Laundromat for 21 years.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 12 noon with Pastor Chris Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Keys Cemetery, Big Flint. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 4-8PM and after 9AM on Thursday until service time.
