Lena Ritter Obituary

Lena Madge Ritter, 93 of Salem departed this life on Monday, January 27, 2014 in the Clarksburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on December 2, 1920 at Bristol a daughter of the late Charles C. and Bonnie L. Norman Stickel. On April 8, 1939 she married Clatis Lee Ritter who preceded her in death on May 23, 1996.

Surviving is five sons, Mike Ritter and wife Lois, Sarasota, FL. Kenny Ritter, Tulsa, OK, James Ritter, Salem, Jeff Ritter and wife Jackie, Salem, John Ritter and wife Theresa, Salem, one daughter-in-law, Yvonne Ritter, Clarksburg, 17 grandchildren, six step grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

One son Clatis Edison Ritter, one daughter Bonnie Delores Ritter Nicholson, two grandsons, Mark Edison Ritter and John David Ritter II, two sisters, Ola Belle Oliver and Mary June Williams preceded her in death.

Mrs. Ritter was a former employee of Salem College as a cafeteria worker. She was a foster grandparent in the Harrison County School system for many years and was called grandma by many Salem children. She was a former employee of Salem Day Care Center and worked in the Salem Seventh Day Baptist Church Nursery. She enjoyed working the election polls and was a long time member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 1:00PM with Pastor Jon Hayes presiding. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 4-8PM and after 9AM Friday until time of service.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation and thanks to Clarksburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Amedisys Hospice for the compassionate care that was given to Madge.
