Lenard L. Swiger

SALEM Lenard L. Swiger, 52, of Rt. 2, Salem (Big Battle Community) passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2008.

He was born on October 9, 1955, on Big Battle, a son of the late Wayman and Edna Ford Swiger.

On June 13, 1980, he married Bonnie Griffin Swiger, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mindy and Kelly Swiger, Salem; two granddaughters, Madison and Tiffani Bonnell; three brothers, Alford Swiger and wife Carol, Ashley, Dennis Swiger and wife Pam, Riggins Run, Larry Swiger and wife Barb, Ashley; three sisters, Carol Bennett, Salem, Linda Nutter and husband Tom, Big Battle, Barb Ash, Big Battle; several nieces and nephews.

One brother preceded him in death, Herbie Swiger.

Lenard was a graduate of Doddridge County High School. He was employed by Glaspell Lumber as a saw sharpener and the Doddridge County Board of Education as a substitute bus driver. He was a loving and wonderful husband, dad and pappy.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He loved going fishing and boating with his friends. Lenard was a hardworking family man and will be sadly missed by all. He was a member of the Welcome Baptist Church, Big Battle.

Friends may call on Saturday, May 31, 2008, in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem, from 2-8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Sunday until the time of service. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Paul Flanigan officiating. Interment will follow in the Christian Church Cemetery, Center Point.
