Lila Lee Burnside

Lila Burnside, 81, of Valley St., Salem departed this life on Saturday, March 27, 2010 surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born on May 22, 1928 at Wolf Summit a daughter of the late Harry and Thelma Ware Simpson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Burnside and two sisters, Helen Eddy and Virginia Dick Moore.

Surviving are two daughters, Lynette Hooton, Clarksburg, Katrina Sutton and husband Gary, Salem, six grandchildren, Tonia Shedd, McDonough, GA, Chuck, Brian, and Travis Hooton, Clarksburg, Derika and Damon Sutton, Salem, eight great grandchildren, Andrew and Allen Costello, Ashley, Zachary, Jenna, Garrett and Lexus Hooton, Mercedez Sutton, one great great grandson, Joshua Costello and one sister, Winona Mathews, Salem.

Lila was retired from Hope Gas Company with over 30 years service. She was a member of the Salem Baptist Church. Known affectionately as Mom to her family and friends, she enjoyed reading and the company of her cats. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 1;00 pm with Pastor Jill Deicas presiding. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home chapel on Monday, March 29, 2010 from 4-8PM and after 9AM on Tuesday until time of service.
