Linda Sue Starkey, 65, of Smithburg, departed this life on Saturday, September 7, 2013 in the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. She was born on November 24, 1947, in Glenville, the daughter of the late Donley Paul and Dorothy Marie Griffith Starkey.
Surviving are two sons, Steven P. Starkey and wife Jessica, Charleston, John M. Starkey, Smithburg: three grandchildren, Joshua Michael Starkey, Lacey Nicole Starkey, Ashley Marie Starkey, one brother, Donley Bryan Starkey and wife Deborah, White Lake, MI, two nieces, Laura and Natalie Starkey, and great niece, Payton Starkey.
One grandson, Steven P. Starkey, Jr preceded her in death.
Linda worked for Myles Manufacturing in West Union and Pennsboro as a seamstress. She was a short-order cook for City Restaurant and worked for the Salem Glass Factory, Salem. Linda had attended the Clarksburg Beauty Academy and West Virginia Business College.
Linda loved her sons and grandchildren and always did the best she could, even when faced with the toughest odds. She loved to cook, fish and play cards.
If there was ever a fighter, it was Linda. She battled her diabetes like a true champion all the way to the end. You never had to wonder how Linda felt about you, because she could size you up in a heartbeat. Truly a special woman and all that knew her will never forget her. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 1PM with Pastor Ramona Woods presiding. Interment will follow in the K. of P. Memorial Park, Salem. Family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 after 11AM until time of service.
