Melodie Lea Jones

Melodie Lea Jones, 69 of Salem passed away on Thursday, 23, 2024 at United Hospital Center. She was born August 14, 1954 In Durham, NC, daughter of the late Robert Lee and Lila Pearl Sutton Jones. Melodie graduated from Doddridge County High School, Glenville State College, with BA in Elementary Education, and West Virginia University with a Master’s in Education Administration. She had many accomplishments, Early childhood aide in Preston County, Governors Youth Summer Program, Student Office Worker at Glenville State, Homebound Tutor at Ritchie County Schools, Teach American Speed-Reading Academy, Elementary Classroom Teacher in Ritchie and Doddridge County Schools and retired as a Public-School Administrator. She was a member of the National Education Association, West Virginia Education Association, West Virginia Basket Weaver Guild, and Alpha Psi Omega National Acting League.  Melodie was president of Meadow Valley Community Educational Outreach Services and Private Educational Tutor.  Her hobbies were Basket Weaving, Yard Sales, and Reading. Her passion in life was teaching and being a volunteer who touched so many lives.    Melodie is survived by her hand-picked family, Justin and Rebekah Leggett and children, Mersadies’, Paisley and Ryker Leggett; Chase and Mattison Phillips of Harrisville; additional extended family, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 11:00 AM until funeral service at 1:00 PM with Brother Chase Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
