Nancy Lavoghn Smith, 71, of Clarksburg, formerly of Salem departed this life on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at her residence. She was born on May 15, 1939 at Lost Creek a daughter of the late Beechler Wesley and Ruby Lee Ellen Longwell Smith. Her husband James E.Smith precedes her in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Evans, Clarksburg, Kimberly Swiger and husband Randy, Clarksburg and Pamela Kelley and husband Ronald, Salem, two sons, Gary L. Smith and wife Lou Ellen, Clarksburg, Tim Smith Big Fork, MT, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one half sister, Inez Harbert, Lumberport, two brothers, Raymond Sims, Clarksburg and Theodore Dean, Virginia Beach, VA. One daughter Janet Leigh Smith and one grandson, T.J. Smith preceded her in death.
Mrs. Smith was a former employee of Moores Restaurant where she was Head Cook. She served as Apple Butter Queen twice and won 1st Place for her Apple Butter two years consecutively. Nancy was a member of Bible Church of God, Wilsonburg. She enjoyed reading her Bible and spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 1PM in the Bible Church of God, Wilsonburg with Pastor James Nuzum presiding. Mrs. Smith will lie in state 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Christian Church Cemetery, Center Point, WV. The family will receive friends in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem on Saturday, September 11th from 6-8PM and on Sunday, September 12th from 1-5PM.
