Naomi Jean Gaston Ford, 89, of Salem passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at her residence with family by her side. She was born June 2, 1933 in Salem, WV, daughter of the late James Frenzel Gaston and Mabel Catherine Nutter Gaston Smearman and her step father, Luther “Luke” Smearman.
She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church where she was in the choir and a bible school teacher. She was also a member of the Orpha Chapter #30 Order of the Eastern Star that was in Salem. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and doing crafts.
Naomi is survived by seven children, Donna Snider, Weirton, James Ford and Marsha, New Cumberland, WV, Richard Ford and Charlette, New Cumberland, Barbara Young, New Cumberland, Crystal Dobosz and Emil, Weirton, Dorene Ash, Clarksburg, and Brad Ford, Clarksburg; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; one sister, Deloris Ashcraft of Weirton; sisters-in-law, Dorene Gaston, Weirton, and Louetta Morgan, Goldsboro, NC; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Naomi is preceded in death by her husband, Austin Kimedy “Kim” Ford on April 17, 2023 and whom she married on December 15, 1948; two brothers, Lawrence “Dale” Gaston Sr and James David Gaston.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 3-7PM. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Welcome Baptist Church, Big Battle Road, Salem WV at 12:00 Noon. She will lie in repose one hour prior to the service.
