Nellie JoAnne Collins

Nellie JoAnne Collins, 79 of Terrace Ave. Salem departed this life on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in her residence. She was born on May 13, 1937 in Clarksburg a daughter of the late Mason and Alfretta Frazier Kerns. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Jackson Collins.

Surviving are three daughters, Cyndy Collins, Christine Shelley, Salem, Kathy Jones, Parkersburg, four sons, Jeff Collins, Fairmont, Michael Collins, Spelter, Eric Collins, North Ridge, CA, Mark Collins, Lewisburg, 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, two sisters, Iva Irene Hickman, Salem, Mary Christina Keigley, Clarksburg and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Jim and Jack Kerns and two sisters, Eva and Juanita Kellar preceded her in death.

Mrs. Collins was Valedictorian of the 1955 graduating class of Bristol High School. She was a 1983 graduate of Salem College where she also obtained her Master's Degree. JoAnne had a life long love of music and enjoyed watching movies, baseball and crime shows on television. She especially enjoyed her feline friends, "Beauty" "Topi and "Alexei" . She was a loving mother and grandmother and sister and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

At her request she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Harbert Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Collins family.
