Ralph D. Brown

Ralph D. Brown 67 of Salem departed this life on Thursday, November 27, 2014 in the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was born in Salem on July 1, 1947 a son of the late Ford Clement and Madeline Childers Brown. On November 16, 1967 he married Barbara Ann McIntyre Brown who preceded him in death on June 9, 2012.

Surviving is one son William D. Brown and wife Sandra, West Milford, one daughter, Cheryl L. Brown Herrod and companion Mike Hinzman, Bridgeport, three grandchildren, Marlee Ann Herrod , Matthew Aubrey Herrod, Madison Paige Brown, two great grandchildren, Matthew Aubrey Herrod II, KaBellah Rayne Herrod, four sisters, Betty Jean Gulas and Rita Faye Brown, Clarksburg, Linda Lunsford and husband Arthur, Sharon "Jo" Morgan and husband Ed of Salem, brothers-in-laws, Allen Carter, Salem James "Buddy" McIntyre and wife Deborah, Lost Creek, sister-in-law, Joanna Jones, Wolf Summit, several nieces and nephews and his special K-9 friend "Spot". One brother Richard "Tinker" Brown and one sister, Barbara Ann Carter preceded him in death.

Mr. Brown was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He was retired from UCAR Carbon from the Shipping and Receiving Department with over 25 years' service. After his retirement he enjoyed farming, raising cattle, eating out and spending time with his friends.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 1:00PM with Pastor Denver Burnside presiding. Interment will follow in the K of P Memorial Park, Salem. Full military graveside rites will be accorded. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday, December 1, 2014 from 4-8PM. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.harbertfuneralhome.com.
