Raymond "Jock" Boring

Raymond E. "Jock" Boring, 68, of Corbin Branch Rd., Bridgeport departed this life on Sunday, February 23, 2014 in the United Hospital Center.

He was born on January 20, 1946, a son of the late Harry E. and Ruby L. Merritt Boring. On October 7, 1967 he married Linda Davis Boring who survives.

Also surviving are three sisters, Barbara A. Davis, Wilmington, N.C., Cynthia S. Johnston, Orlando, FL. and Linda L. Davis, Bridgeport; one brother, Jack E. Boring, Salem; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth E. Boring & Larry W. Boring; and one sister, Martha Boring.

Mr. Boring was a 1965 graduate of Doddridge County High School and had been a Center for the football team. He had been employed by Louie Glass, Weston, Minner Glass, Salem and was currently employed by Wal-Mart, Fairmont. Jock enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and sang bass in the gospel group, Sounds of Zion.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 7:00PM with Pastor Denver Burnside and Pastor Lenny Peeler presiding. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel after 2:00PM Wednesday until service time.
