Rev. Danny Gerald Fleming, 74 of Flinderation Road, Salem went to his heavenly home on Friday, March 17, 2023 at United Hospital Center with family by his side.

He was born January 24, 1949 in Clarksburg, son of the late William “Gerald” and Geraldine Louise Brannon Fleming.

Danny graduated from Bristol High School, Class of 1967. He served in the US Navy as a machinist mate from April 1968-August 1971 and was on the USS Franklin D Roosevelt (CCVA-42) and the USS Arneb (LKA-56) during the Vietnam War. He joined the United States Army Reserves in 1980 and served until 1996 when he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 with over twenty years of service. He served with the 459th ENGR Co (Clarksburg) and Co D, 463 ENBN (New Martinsville) along with 2093 RD USAR School and 80th Training Division (DIT).

Danny worked as a Detroit Diesel Mechanic from several years. In 1981 he started working for the Dept of the Army as a mechanic in the area maintenance support activity #102(G) (AMSA) located in Clarksburg. This shops mission included preparing equipment for Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield in 1990. In Sept of 1996, He was promoted to Activity Supervisor at AMSA #107(G) in Charleston, WV. In March he was promoted to Activity Supervisor at AMSA #102(G) and returned home. He served at this location until his retirement on January 31, 2009. Danny’s total civil service exceeded thirty years. His civil service’s primary mission is to service, repair and maintain USAR equipment for combat support and combat service support units in North Central WV. AMSA #102 was called upon to prepare equipment in 2001 for Operation Enduring Freedom, and eventually Operation Iraqi Freedom.   

Danny was a member of the Bristol United Methodist Church and felt inspired to become a Pastor in 2006 and retired in June 2016 from the Jarvisville United Methodist Charge consisting of Big Isaac, Meadow Valley, Lyda Chapel, Pleasant Valley and Mount Olive United Methodist Church.

Danny is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Glenda “Joyce” McCune Fleming whom he married on July 2, 1970; three daughters, Annetta Payne and husband Bryan, Clarksburg, Melissa Teter and husband Joe, Bridgeport, Alesha Bell, Charleston; seven grandchildren, Meagan Joy Payne, Joey Teter, Zachary Teter, Austin Teter and companion Lindsey Feathers, Ally Nutter, Lauryn Paige Nutter, and Jaxon Perry; three great grandchildren, Autumn Gioia Payne, Maddox Creed Teter and Maddy Feathers; two brothers, Terry L Fleming and Nanette, Salem, Steven L Fleming, Fairmont, several nieces and nephews.

 In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Brian Fleming; and one sister, Connie Darlene Fleming Robertson.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Monday, March 20, 2023 from 2-7PM and on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 9AM until time of the Funeral Service at 11:00AM with Rev Dustin McCune officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens with full military honors accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Guard.
