Robert "Bob" Neil Bowen

Robert “Bob” Neil Bowen, 85 of Salem went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. He was born May 20, 1935 in Miletus, son of the late Lot T and Margaret S Swann Bowen.

Bob served his country in the United States Army and toured thirteen countries with the Army Band. He retired as a supervisor with Union Carbide. He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church and loved his church family and reading the bible.  He loved his riding lawn mower.  His greatest joy was his wife, daughter, and grandchildren. He was nicknamed “Doc” by his brothers and sister.    

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Marie Bowen whom he married October 26, 1958 and they met at Pleasant Valley Church in Miletus, WV and they built two beautiful homes together; one daughter, Roberta G Bowen Zwiebel, Salem; two grandchildren, Tesla and Zachary Zwiebel;   loving niece and like a daughter, Susie Cervenak, Weirton, foster children, Russell Leasure, Burnsville, and Helen Leasure, Reynoldsville; siblings, Raymond B Bowen and wife Mary, IL; Daniel L Bowen and wife Sharon, IL, John W Bowen and wife Evelyn, Wallace and Junior L Bowen and wife Debbie, Wolf Summit; additional grandkids, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Kent Zwiebel; four brothers, Timothy “Bear” Bowen, Carl T Bowen, James R Bowen, and Wesley M Bowen; one sister, Lorretta J Woodson.

Private Interment will be at K of P Cemetery. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church at a later date.  Online condolences may be sent to www.davisfuneralhomesalemwv.com.
