Robert “Bob” Larry McClain, 78 of Big Isaac Community passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital with family by his side. He was born September 9, 1946 in Miletus, WV, son of the late Willis Henry and Doris Emma Haught McClain.
Bob graduated from Doddridge County High School in 1964 and Salem College in 1968. He was a teacher in Harrison County Schools for 50 plus years teaching Industrial Arts, Shop and English. He was a member of St James Catholic Church. He was a godly man, giving to others and putting them first. His hobbies were farming, where he raised Black Angus Cattle, riding and breaking horses. He also enjoyed attending Bobby’s football games where he coached offensive line, along with fox and coon hunting. Bob was a family man and loved time they spent together. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Also, a big part of Bob’s life was his dogs “Ice” and “Bandit”
Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Marie Rodriguez McClain, two sons, Robert Larry McClain II and wife Nicole, Morgantown, and Justin McClain, Big Isaac; four grandchildren, Taylor McCombs Howes and husband Owen, Christopher McCombs and wife Riley, and Lance McCombs and wife Madison, and Laurel McCombs, one great grandchild, Tatum and one on the way; two siblings, Richard McClain and wife Andrea, Salem, Carol Swiger, Romney; brother-in-law, Cassel Evans, Deleware; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia Ann McClain McCombs and husband Michael; two sisters, Phyllis Kemper and Evelyn Evans.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home in Salem, WV, on Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 1:00PM until a time of sharing at 4:30PM and on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 9:00AM until the time of the Catholic Burial Rites at 11:00 AM with Father Akila Rodrigo presiding.
