Rodney Mark Ashcraft, 66, of Salem, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Rosewood Nursing Facility in Grafton WV. Born on August 2, 1959, he was the son of Rodney Ashcraft and Katherine (Junkins) Ashcraft.
Mark was a graduate of Liberty High School in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He worked as an independent contractor and was known for his strong work ethic, intelligence, and great sense of humor. He took pride in his work and in providing for his family.
An avid outdoorsman, Mark loved spending time outside fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed picking berries and turning those moments into special family memories by making homemade cobblers. A devoted NASCAR fan, he especially loved Dale Earnhardt, and racing was one of his favorite pastimes.
Above all else, Mark was a hardworking and loving father who always made sure his family was cared for. He will be remembered for his dedication, his humor, and the quiet ways he showed his love.
He is survived by his three children: Scott and Mandy Gaines, of Myrtle Beach SC, Rodney “Ryan” and Sheena Ashcraft of Grafton WV, Meghan Ashcraft - Moore and Louie of Salem WV, eight grandchildren; Shaine Gaines, Scotty Gaines, Miranda Gaines, Rydar Ashcraft, Rigley Moore, Ryela Moore, Bentley Ashcraft, Beaux Ashcraft, two Great Grandchildren; Sylas Gaines, Saxon Gaines, one Sister Melinda Ashcraft and one brother Brian Ashcraft, along with his Aunts and Uncles, Randall and Shirley Ashcraft, Barbara and Glenn Wilson, Lola Ashcraft, Carol Davis, James Junkins and Carmen, and multiple cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Beth (Childers) Ashcraft, whose memory was dear to him.
Mark’s family takes comfort in knowing that their wish for cremation is being honored by Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. While they will miss his steady presence and warm spirit, they know his memory will live on in their hearts forever.
