Roscoe Bernard Chipps, 70, of Clarksburg, formerly of Long Run, Doddridge County passed away on Friday, March 13, 2009 in the Louis A Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center, Clarksburg.
He was born on August 27, 1938 in Doddridge County a son of the late Roscoe Howard and Gretna Pearl Nicholson Chipps Dotson.
On April 11, 1958 he married Gae Marie Fox Chipps who preceded him in death on March 3, 1991.
Surviving are four sons, Perry Chipps and wife Tammy, Sunnyside, West Union, Kevin Chipps and wife Crystal, Long Run, Richard (Bernard) Chipps, Salem, Craig Chipps and wife Melanie, Salem, two daughters, Teresa Morgan, Clarksburg, Bernadine Woolum, Wapakoneta, OH, 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, one brother, Wendell Chipps, Fairmont, one sister, Maybell Chipps, Fairmont, several nieces and nephews.
One son, Bradley Chipps, one brother, Bill Chipps and one sister, Connie Williams preceded him in death.
Mr. Chipps was retired from CSX Railroad as a foreman in the engineering department. He was a member of Mt. Olive Church, Salem. Bernard enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2009 at 1:00PM in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem with Pastor Robert Marino officiating. Interment will follow in the K of P Memorial Park, Salem. Family and friends may call on Sunday, March 15,2009 in the funeral home chapel from 4-8PM and from 9AM on Monday until time of service.
