Rosetta Pratt Obituary

Rosetta Mae Pratt, 89, of Salem, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025 in Morgantown.  She was born on September 13, 1936 in Oklahoma City, OK, the daughter of the late Lewis Edward Chipps and Alcinda Marie Norris Chipps.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ronald Pratt, whom she married on July 13, 1957.

She is also survived by her three children, Jeff Pratt and wife Julie of Bridgeport, Angie Lamb and husband John of Salem and Stephanie Tobery and Gradon of Hagerstown, MD; eight grandchildren, Hanna Payne and husband Ryan, Morgan Nigiannis and husband Dimitri, Rose Tobery, Hattie Tobery Rob Carroll, Shaylyn Ash and husband Curtis, Bailey Lamb and Lexie Lamb; eight great grandchildren, Brock Payne, Victor Payne, Gunnar Carroll, Willow Carroll, Rory Carroll, Charleigh Carroll, Easton Ash and Bowen Ash; one great great grandson, Caden Rice; and one sister-in-law, Albert Jean Chipps.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first child, Teresa Ann Pratt and her brother, Roy Lee Chipps.

Rosetta was a graduate of Doddridge County High School, Class of 1954. She devoted 29 years as a teacher’s aide with the Doddridge County Board of Education, where she quietly but faithfully supported countless students and teachers. Her life was one of service, consistency, and showing up for the people who depended on her.

A devoted member of Cascara Friendship Church, Rosetta served as pianist and treasurer for nearly 50 years. Her music filled the church, and her steady leadership helped sustain it for generations. She also gave her time as secretary and treasurer for the Doddridge County Farm Bureau, always willing to help wherever she was needed.

At home, Rosetta’s love was felt most deeply. She cherished time spent making cookies with her granddaughters, baking cakes, thrift shopping, and opening her heart as well as her home to numerous stray cats. She was kind, loving, and welcoming to all. Once Rosetta committed to something or someone, she was “all in.” Above all else, she treasured Sunday dinners with her family, a tradition she lovingly maintained for more than 30 years and one that became the heartbeat of her family life.

Rosetta’s legacy is not just found in her years of service, but in the love she gave so freely, the traditions she created, and the family and community she held together with faith, music, and unwavering devotion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
