Saundra Carleen Balis Gaskins, 59 of Salem departed this life on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in the United Hospital Center, Clarksburg. She was born June 9, 1951 a daughter of Wilma Flanigan Balis, Salem and the late Earl Junior Balis.
Surviving are one daughter, Marsha Cox and her husband Mark, Charlestown, two sons, Earl Gaskins and his wife Dessie, Salem, Christopher Underwood, Salem, four grandchildren, Thaner Cox, Curtis Scott Cox, Hannah Carleen Cox and Samantha Elizabeth Gaskins, one brother, Wade Earl Balis, Salem and several nieces and nephews. One sister Margaret Ella Hummel, two nieces and one nephew preceded her in death.
Saundra was employed by the West Virginia Department of Highways with 33 years of service as an office assistant. She was a member of the Evergreen United Methodist Church. Saundra was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held in the Harbert Funeral Home on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Bill Davis presiding. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Cherry Camp. Family and friends will be received in the funeral chapel on Wednesday, June 23rd from 6-8PM and on Thursday, June 24th from 2-8PM, and after 9AM on Friday until time of service.
