Shirley Jo Davis

Shirley Jo Davis, 75 of Salem (Big Isaac Community) departed this life on Friday, November 11, 2011 in the United Hospital Center. She was born on August 3, 1936 at Miletus, Doddridge County a daughter of the late Cecil R. and Garnet B. Knight Shaffer. On May 22, 1953 she married Howard D. Davis who preceded her in death on November 26, 1996.

Surviving are three daughters, Diana S. Todd and husband Dave, Big Isaac, Beverly D. Lowe and husband Chip, Jarvisville, Rhonda A. Sheppard and husband George, Hepzibah, three sons, Bradford D. Davis and wife Melanie, Salem, Rusty L. Davis and wife Sharon, and Dusty A. Davis, Big Isaac, 11 grandchildren, Katrina Sutton and husband Mike, Kayla Todd and Fianc Scott Sendling, Angela Davis, Jeremy Davis and wife Ana, David Davis, B.J. Davis and companion Samantha Richards, Lisa Davis and companion Brian Barnett, Misty Kelly, Jeff Kelly, Alaina Carty, Jonathan Carty, 11 great grandchildren, Jonas and Austin Carder, Jacob, Jared and Johnathan Sutton, Latasha, Michael, Gavin and Dominick Robinson and Candice and Colton Barr, 4 sisters, Jackie Strother and husband Leon, Judy Wilson and husband Jerry, Charlotte Chick Johnson and husband Mike, Retha Jolley and husband Greg, 4 brothers, Ronnie Shaffer, Randall Butch Shaffer and wife Thelma, Terry Shaffer and wife Barbara, Kenny Shaffer and wife Jeannie, several nieces and nephews. Five sisters, Dorothy Norman, Betty Robinson, Leota Lee Ash, Connie Forinash and Jessie Nicholas, one brother Richard Shaffer preceded her in death.

Shirley was a loving, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a stay-at-home mom who lovingly took care of her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed assisting her husband with Auction Sales and loved playing cards with anyone who was up to the challenge. She was Methodist.


Private funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main Street on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 with Pastor Douglas Joseph presiding. Interment will follow in the Big Isaac Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday, November 14, 2011 from 2-8PM.
