Salem-Thelma R. Asher, 90 of Salem departed this life on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 in the Clarksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Big Battle (Doddridge County) on November 22, 1919 a daughter of the late William F. and Ala V.Wright Starkey. On January 24, 1940 she married Donald R. Asher who preceded her in death on May 20, 1984.
Surviving is one son, Jim R. Asher and wife Sherry, Mt.Clare, two daughters, Alice Ann Criss, Aliquippa, PA, Linda A. Whyte and husband Frank, Wheeling, six grandchildren, Debbie Domsic and husband Duane, Brian Criss and wife Bridget, Mike, Stacey and Travis Asher and Larry Whyte, three great grandchildren, Laura, Jessica and Daniel Domsic and Isabelle Asher. One brother, Cecil Starkey, one half brother, Clarence Starkey, three half sisters, Lillian Ethel Helmick, Mary B. Buzzard and Eula Virginia Bates preceded her in death.
Mrs. Asher was Baptist. She enjoyed gardening and reading and spending time with her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Friday August 20, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Denver Burnside presiding. Interment will follow in the Christian Church Cemetery, Center Point. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, August 19th from 4-8 PM and after 9AM on Friday until service time.
