Thelma V. Thompson, 90, of Route 1, Bristol departed this life on Saturday, March 21, 2009.
She was born on January 3, 1919 in Clarksburg a daughter of the John and Elsie Rollins Edgell. On February 12, 1939 she married Lester Thompson who preceded her in death on September 26, 1995.
Surviving is one son Arnet Thompson and wife Ophelia, Jacksonville, FL, one daughter Verna Evans and husband Bill, Salem, six grandchildren, Tina Martin and husband Dan, Lorena Bland and husband Hubert, all of Salem, Vickie Lamb and husband Bill, Lost Creek, Lee Thompson and wife Crystal, St. Johns, FL, Hope Thompson, St. Petersburg, FL, Joe Thompson, Jacksonville, FL, six great grandchildren and one sister, Elfie Watson, Bridgeport.
Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
Mrs. Thompson was retired from the Industrial Home for Girls as a Kitchen Matron. She was a member of the Blacklick Baptist Church, where she served as Church Treasurer.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 1PM in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem with Pastor Robert Marino presiding. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery., Salem. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, March 26, 2009 from 10 AM until time of service.
