Timothy “Tim” Wayne Palmer, 75, of Salem passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025 at Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center. He was born September 8, 1949 in Glen Dale, WV, son of the late Wayne Rufus and Beverly Ann West Palmer.
Tim graduated from John Marshall High School Class of 1969. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he went to work at Harglo Glass in Salem. Tim then was employed by the National Machinery in Clarksburg for 11 years until they shut down; after which he went to work for the City of Salem for 2 years, next he was then employed by Salem-Teikyo University for the next 9 years. Tim also worked in excavating with Bill Spencer for 3 years and with Tom Fluharty in the Oil and Gas business for 3 years. He was employed at Ruskin Mfg. in Fairmont for 6 years, and his last job being with Ike & Mike Gas and Oil (WACO). Timothy was a “Jack of all trades”. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Salem. Tim loved to hunt and fish and spend time with the family.
Tim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathryn Arlene Ash Palmer, whom he married on April 28, 1971; his daughter, Tonja Pringle (Andrew) Salem; seven grandchildren, Isaac Pringle (Alexis), Sarah Hill (Zach), Kayla Pringle, Caitlin Manges, Allison Palmer, Rebecca Palmer and Matthew Palmer; three siblings, Angela Standiford (Joseph), Glen Easton, WV, Judith Fisher (Vic), Wheeling, and Thomas Palmer, Glen Easton, WV; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tim is preceded in death by his son David Wayne Palmer on May 2, 2022.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 3-6 PM and on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 12:00 Noon until the time of the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM with Pastor Trevor Pullen officiating. Interment will follow at K of P Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and US Army Honor Guard.
