Walter Thomas Skinner, 74 of High St. Salem departed this life on Friday, March 14, 2014 in the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was born in Harrison County on June 3, 1939 a son of the late Murl and Wanda Husk Skinner. On June 3, 1967 he married Patricia Fox Skinner who survives.
Also surviving is one daughter Tammy Hall and husband Matthew, Clarksburg, two sons, Thomas Skinner and wife Ann, Zanesville, OH, Craig Skinner, Bridgeport, two grandsons, Matthew Hall II, Dakota Skinner, step grandchildren, Tiffany Sullivan, Tara Strickland, great grandchildren, Logan Furbee and Charlie Ann Strickland, three sisters, Sharon Heckard, Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Mary Johnson, Ruth Skinner, Salem. One brother Robert Skinner preceded him in death.
Mr. Skinner was a truck driver for Gerald Alderman Trucking. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Walter enjoyed fishing, cooking and listening to country music.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 12 Noon with Pastor Mike Cox presiding. Interment will follow in the WV National Cemetery, Pruntytown. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, March 19 2014 from 10AM until time of service.
