Wavelyne Kathern Robinson, of Route 23N, Salem passed from this life on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. She was born March 5, 1926 on the Cayton Family Farm in Doddridge County on Route 23N, a daughter of the late Ashby L. Sr. and Beulah C. Pratt Cayton. On July 8, 1943 she married, Cleveland "Junior" Robinson who preceded her in death on December 29, 2000.
Surviving are one daughter, Vicky L. Underwood and husband Arzey, Bluefield, VA, two sons, Thomas L. Robinson and wife Judy, Woodsfield, OH, Kenneth L. Robinson and wife Vivian, Salem, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two sisters, Barbara Devericks and husband Darrell, Pennsboro, Betty Walls and husband Ron, Akron, OH and brother, Roy Cayton and wife Betty, Enterprise, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Delmas Paul, Andy D. and Ashby L. Cayton, Jr.
Mrs. Robinson graduated from Salem College and attended West Virginia University. During her career as a teacher she taught in Harrison and Doddridge Counties. She retired from the Doddridge County High School in 1988. She was a member of the Swentzel Scholarship committee, judging of the Voice of Democracy contest and secretary of the Doddridge County Senior Citizens Board. She was a member of the Vermont Baptist Church, Sedalia. Wavelyne enjoyed extensive travel in the United States and abroad. She was an avid reader, loved crossword and picture puzzles and was a seamstress. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1PM on Saturday, June13, 2015 in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem with Pastor Chad Ash and Pastor Denver Burnside officiating. Interment will follow in the K. of P. Memorial Park, Salem. Family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 2-8PM and from 12PM until time of service on Saturday.
