William Russell Jarvis, 98 of Maranatha Lane, Salem departed this life on Saturday October 15, 2016 in the Meadowview Manor, Bridgeport. He was born on February 17, 1918 at Duck, WV a son of the late Leslie and Susan Rollyson Jarvis. Twice married he was preceded in death by his first wife Maysel Narine Kendall Jarvis on November 18, 1969. On August 21, 1971 he married Macie Nadine Kendall who preceded him in death on January 23, 2013.
Surviving are three daughters, Lenore Greenawalt, Salem, Marie Michener, New Palestine, IN, Sharon Hazen, Mentor, OH, three sons, Allen Short, Wirtz, VA, Gary Short, Lyons, Or. Brian Short, Chester, VA, 14 grandchildren, 35 great great grandchildren. One son, Russell Dale Jarvis, one grandson, Swain Leonard Greenawalt III, one brother, Doyle Jarvis and one sister, Tressie Delores Jarvis Scott preceded him in death.
Mr. Jarvis was a finish carpenter for Bill Croxten Developer in Richmond, VA for 25 years. He enjoyed woodworking and music. William had attended the Lighthouse Baptist Church, Salem. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted in the Kendall Family Cemetery, Braxton Co. on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 11:00AM with Pastor Dewey Tanner presiding. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Gideon's International. Harbert Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Jarvis family.
