William "Virgil" Richards

William “Virgil” Richards, 86, of Salem passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Stonerise Clarksburg with family by his side. He was born October 22, 1937 in Greenwood, son of the late Joseph Virgil and Mildred Cottrill Richards and stepmother, Ramona McCloy Richards.

Virgil was a truck delivery driver for the Exponent Telegram, Sanitary Linen, Tom’s Snacks and prior had worked at Craig Motors in the parts department. He was a member of the Salem Church of God and enjoyed listening to and singing gospel music as well as preaching. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and riding his bicycle. 

Virgil is survived by his wife Karen Sue Flanigan Richards; three children, Carol Richards, Ronald Richards and wife Kim all of Akron, OH, Melody Snyder, Clarksburg; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; six brothers and four sisters; numerous nieces and nephews.                                               

In addition to his parents, Virgil is preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Richards; and two brothers; two step brothers.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 3:00-8:00PM and at Salem Church of God, 119 State St, Salem, WV on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 10:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:30PM with Rev Leroy Richards officiating.  Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
