Willis Woogie Mayle, 69, of Route 1, Salem (Sawyers Run) passed away on Monday, December 29, 2008 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 23, 1939 in Doddridge County a son of the late Leonard and Betty Pratt Mayle. On December 25, 1959 he married Glaydene George Mayle who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Willis Buddy Mayle, Jr. and wife LeeAnne, Statesville, NC, three daughters, Tammy Thompson and husband Ronnie, Patricia King and husband, Samuel King, Jr., both of Salem, Beverly Faris and husband Richard, Catawba, NC, six grandchildren, Jamie Thompson Faesenmeier and husband Andrew, Lisa Thompson Taylor and husband Jonathan, Brandi Edgell Fulbright and husband Phil, Amanda Edgell Reynolds and husband Wesley, Eric King and James Edgell, one step grandchild, Jeremy Gallman and companion Jacquelyn Mulholland, seven great grandchildren and one step great grandchild, two sisters, Rhea Faye Cork and husband Jack Crystal Shahan and husband, John both of Salem. One sister, Joy Mayle preceded him in death.
Mr. Mayle was retired from Tiffany Glass Company as a glass worker. He was a member of Hurst Chapel United Methodist Church, was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. Willis was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 12 Noon in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem with Rev. Kevin Bender officiating. Friends and family will be received in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, December 31st from 6-8PM and on Thursday, January 1st from 2-4PM & 6-8PM and after 9AM on Friday, January 2 until time of services. Interment will be in the K of P Memorial Park, Salem. Condolences may be offered to the family on line at www.harbertfuneralhome.com.
